Installation and care of copper sinks

Bathroom Machineries copper sinks are made from solid 16 gauge copper. Our sinks add a rich, warm feel to any décor and are especially beautiful when paired with other natural materials such as stone, terra cotta, wood, tile, and concrete.  All of our sinks are forged completely by hand and hand -hammered or polished to bring out the natural beauty of the metal.

Polished finishes: Our polished sinks are untreated and will develop a natural patina over time. The natural patina will darken and change as time passes. Applying a brass or furniture wax that does not contain polish or cleaners can slow the change in patina.  If desired, patina on a sink can be removed with a metal polish or mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. This will result in a bright shiny finish that will highlight the shape of the bowl. Waxing the surface will preserve the shine, or the sink can be left untreated to develop a new patina.

Hammered Finishes: Our hammered sinks have a heat treated stain that gives the sink an old world aged patina. Initially these sinks will have a chocolate or “oiled bronze” color that will darken and lighten in different areas as the finish ages. Color change is a normal occurrence for this organic, or living finish. The change can be slowed by applying a brass or furniture wax that does not contain polish or cleaners such as beeswax or Trewax.

Care and Cleaning: Sinks should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap. Periodic re-application of wax will help preserve the desired patina. Polished copper sinks can be wiped with a brass or copper cleaner to regain the polished look.

Installation: Self Rimming / Drop-in sinks are secured to the countertop with adhesive caulking. Undermount sinks may be screwed directly to the underside of the counter by drilling holes in the mounting rim, or may be attached to the underside of the sink using commonly available undermount hardware.
