Antique Keys Page 1

Antique Keys Page 2

Antique Keys Page 3

O ur keys came from England almost 30 years ago. "Blue Peter," the long-running BBC children's program has often promoted fund raisers for various charities. In this instance, the program encouraged children from 'throughout the land' to send in their parents' no-longer used keys. They received keys of every kind, from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. These were sold to a scrap dealer, with the proceeds presented to Oxfam, the charitable organization.
Eventually, this huge collection of keys made it’s way to Bathroom Machineries where to our knowledge, it represents one of the largest collections of antique keys in the world: Estimated at several tons & containing somewhere between 400,000 and 700,000 keys!

keyheart

“Key to my heart” pendant.
After numerous requests for such an item, we’ve gone ahead and made these from antique solid brass keys that have been plated in nickel and attached to a lightweight bead chain. Key style may vary slightly; keys are
1-1/4 to 1-1/2” long.

Please note: every key in our collection is different. Don’t ask us for help in finding a key for grandma’s steamer trunk or your old Yale lock; we can’t help you. Not only are the odds of us having the right key literally 1 in 1 million, we’re too busy around here to spend the next 3 weeks digging through buckets in a futile search for a particlular $2 key. (We have 10+ tons of keys!)
We suggest hiring a locksmith to pick the lock and make a new key.

#9A Mortise Door Keys
2 1/4” to 4 1/2” long, flat bow pin stem keys of various makes and styles. The basic “skeleton key” used on interior door mortise locks from 1910 to 1940. Most are clean with chrome plating and some with light rust.
Each: 1.99
10 pack: 18.00

Please note: The size and nature of our collection makes it impossible for us to find keys to fit particular locks. Please do not order keys with the hope that maybe one will fit an old lock, not only are these British keys that are unlikely to fit American locks, the odds of finding one to fit a given lock are nearly one in one million!

Quantity discounts on keys? The 100 pack prices shown here are our bottom-line price on any quantity of keys over 100. Sorting through our multi-ton pile of keys is very labor intensive and even more so for large orders. Whether we sort out 100 keys or 6000, our labor cost remains the same. (Not to mention it’s dirty, dusty, rusty work involving close association with lots of spiders!) Keys that do not list a 100 pack price are not abundant enough in our collection to fill large orders.
