1908 Ruud Automatic Water Heater

This beauty stands 64” to the top of the original draft hood and measures 19” in diameter. The heater was removed from a San Francisco Victorian home last summer where it was still working after being installed in a post-‘06 earthquake retrofit & remodel.
(Don’t you wish you could still buy appliances that lasted for 93 years?!?!!)

Medallion reads: “Award by the Franklin Institute to Edwin Ruud for the Automatic Water Heater 1904”

We’ve removed the heat exchanger and burner, sandblasted, primed, and repainted the unit and have added a pair of plywood shelves inside converting this classic appliance into the most decorative storage cabinet you’re ever likely to see.

Early ‘20’s Hotstream #20 Water Heater

The things we find! Here is a NEW, never used, still in the original crate, Hotstream water heater. The crate is labeled for “J.M. & L.A. Osborn Co. 6486 Rapin St, Buffalo NY” There’s no need to restore it, as it just needs to be dusted. Perfect for the antique plumbing freak in your life! Measures 18” tall and 8” diameter. By the way, please don’t try to actually use it!
